Location policy
Last updated July 1, 2026
This location policy explains how and why the MonoDispatch driver app uses location and GPS data. Your location helps us match you with suitable loads near you - closer pickups, less deadhead, and better offers - and during an active load it lets dispatch coordinate pickups, deliveries, and check calls. It is a companion to our privacy policy and is written to make our location use clear for drivers and for Apple App Store review.
Why we use your location
MonoDispatch is a dispatch platform for freight and sprinter van logistics. Live driver location is a core part of the service. We use location to:
- Match you with suitable loads near you, so you see closer pickups, less deadhead, and better offers.
- Share your real-time position with your dispatch team during an active load, so they can coordinate pickups, deliveries, and customer updates.
- Support check calls and reduce the number of manual status calls between you and dispatch.
- Provide accurate pickup-to-delivery tracking and estimated arrival information.
Location during active loads
During an active load, your location is shared with dispatch automatically so they can coordinate pickups, deliveries, and check calls. While the app is open, updates are sent about once an hour, and you can send your current location at any time with the Update button.
While the app is in the background, it sends occasional updates, roughly every 2 hours, so dispatch can keep coordinating your run even when the app is not in the foreground. Background updates run while you are signed in to the driver app and are used to coordinate your active loads.
Location permission
To send updates while the app is in the background during active loads, the app uses the iOS "Always" location permission and ships the iOS location background mode. iOS asks for your permission before any location access begins, and you can review the current permission in iOS Settings at any time.
You can turn off location sharing whenever you want, in the app or in iOS Settings. If you turn it off, live tracking and some dispatch features will not work, which may affect your ability to receive and complete loads.
What we collect and how long we keep it
Location data consists of GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) and related metadata such as timestamps, tied to your driver account and the relevant load. We retain location data only as long as needed for dispatch operations and recordkeeping tied to those loads, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
No sale or third-party use of location
We do not sell location data, use it for advertising, or share it with third-party analytics, ad networks, or data brokers. Location data stays in MonoDispatch and is visible only to authorized users in the company workspace tied to the active load. Vendors that host, secure, or deliver the service process location data only as service providers on MonoDispatch's instructions.
Your control over location
You control location access:
- You can grant or deny location access when first prompted.
- You can change or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings under the MonoDispatch app.
- If you revoke location access, live tracking and some dispatch features will not function, which may affect your ability to receive and complete loads.
